Ancient Chinese herbal formulas have been an effective form of treatment in East Asia for thousands of years.
Chinese Herbs are prescribed to fit an individual's specific physical, emotional and/or mental condition, and are meant to restore and maintain the body's balance and health. They come in a variety of forms, including pills, powders and loose herbs that are used to make tea.
A more detailed explanation of Chinese Herbs can be found here.
Sharon is a nationally licensed acupuncturist with 20 years of experience treating men, women and children of all ages. Though she is a general practitioner, she does have specialties as outlined below:
Orthopedic and Sports Acupuncture: Sharon's background as a professional dancer informs her work with athletes, dancers and others. Acupuncture is used to maintain peak performance by treating injuries before they become chronic, nagging disabilities. If you are experiencing an injury, acupuncture can speed recovery drastically. If surgery becomes necessary, acupuncture can help restore you to peak performance. Best of all, acupuncture can be used as a maintenance method to help keep you from experiencing injury in the first place. Acupuncture helps anyone with generalized hip, back, neck and shoulder pain whether one is an athlete or not.
Women's Health: Nurturing women and children is an important part of Sharon's practice. Acupuncture has been proven to be very beneficial in the treatment of painful cycles, infertility, pre and post natal issues and menopausal symptoms.
Pediatric Acupuncture: With an advanced certification in Pediatric Acupuncture, Sharon is happy to bring this natural system of health care to our children. Children respond very quickly to treatment and generally find it relaxing just as adults do. Needles for children are very fine and painless. Needle-free and herbal treatments are also available to children.
Your initial visit consists of an hour and a half intake (children generally less) during which your practitioner will gather information about your health history as well as details about your present condition. This info becomes instrumental to your diagnosis and treatment plan. You will receive a treatment on your first visit. Sharon may make lifestyle recommendations to assist you on your path to vibrant health and well being.
